What UNT helmet logo would you prefer?

I find it interesting that many on this board complain about traditions or lack thereof and or how we constantly change things, be it uniforms, colors etc never allowing anything to get a toehold with our fans, students, alums. And yet so many want to ditch the "North Texas" on the helmets for something else. You may not like the look, but fact is, "North Texas" emblazoned on the side of our helmets is a look that has been a tradition longer than anything we've ever had, helmet wise, in our Div.1/FBS history.

And while I'm not really a fan of the font they created I say stick with it.

SOW can live elsewhere on the uni's.

post script:

Other schools that put their name on the helmet: Ole Miss, Illinois, Boise State. Not bad company.

The interlocked NT has been a part of our tradition for a long time and is still used by the Alumni Association. The star designates the Lone Star State and I'd like to see it used as well.

That would be my favorite. The interlocking NT with the state of Texas outlining in the background. I think somebody had posted an image like that here several years ago. It was awesome.

Ole Miss is not the name of the University of Mississippi.

So, that's - so far - 85% for SOW or Interlocking NT. Is it useless again to post the number of college that use interlocking letters or school letter abreviations? I can't remember the last time I did it, but I think it was over 60% of the schools. Again, countering RV's opinion that we've got to have "North Texas" or people won't know who we are.

Interlocking, letters, or abbreviations = 78

Animal, animal related thing, or mascot = 41

Misc./WTF? = 10

Nothing = 6

School Name Spelled Out (Our current helmet) = 5

Team Name = 5

Native American Themed = 2

Now...again...RV's theory that we have to have "North Texas" or people won't know who we are is blantantly ridiculous. If that were the case, the only time people would know who was playing is if Illinois, Tulsa, Troy, Ohio, or us were playing.

Almost every school in the country has either letters, the team mascot, or a combination of both on it. Only 20 schools fall outside of that group, 16%.

It is not going to kill us to go with a real logo.

I'd go for interlocking NT

I'd go for SOW

I'd go for UNT

I'd go for NT or UNT with SOW

I'd go for NT or UNT with an Eagle, Eagle head, claw, or wing

I'd even go for NORTEX just to be original with an abbreviation, or NORTEX with SOW or an Eagle, Eagle head, claw, or wing.

The only thing I'd want spelled out on our helmets ever again would be MEAN GREEN, a nickname that truly is unique. MEAN GREEN with an Eagle, Eagle head, claw, wing, or SOW is also fine.

Whatever. We have plenty to work with when you look at what the vast majority of schools do. Just, please...kill off the NORTH TEXAS spelled out.

It's a killer design and would sell like hotcakes if put on a cap. But good luck getting a logical explanation from the alumni association as to why they won't approve it being mass marketed. They and the athletic department will blame one another and you'll never get a straight answer from anyone.

letterman's NT with out star, state or sow...just straight up classic....

our options listed

-current North Texas

-script North Texas

-SOW

-interlocked NT

-original stylized Eagle *(should say "original traditional eagle"..."stylized" refers to SOW's look....

also other options missing are:

-mean green written out

-traditional "green...one white stripe...grey face mask"

love (The Fake Lonnie Finch's work...thank you)

but...in my mind...really only one choice...the interlock NT
