Probably not, and Firefightin Rick is the only one that I can recall that does it the original way. An eagle has three forward talons and one rear talon. Originally, that was the way that it was done with the index, middle and ring fingers representing the forward talons and the thumb the rear talon. Apparently, someone couldn't get their pinkie doubled or the ring finger extended enough so they took the easy way out and just changed it to two talons forward. What we have is a deformed bird.

We talked about this in another thread yesterday. . . . Whatever it was, it wasn't an official LOI.

I am not sure that the old way is truly better for everyone. If there are others like me, then if the ring finger goes up, so does the last finger. If I do it the way that you outlined here, I am going to have a different kind of mutated eagle claw that will be much more awkward.
