Went to my first two tennis matches this weekend. On Sat. UNT pretty much destroyed future CUSA mate ODU 6-1. On Sunday, the ladies came back to beat a tougher Lamar squad....it was over at 4-0 UNT, but I don't recall the exact final score. In doubles against Lamar today, UNT made some excellent comebacks after a slow start to take the doubles point, then took care of business in the singles matches.

All this, great weather, free admission and they gave us free pizza and popcorn on Saturday, then free bagels, rolls, coffee, juice, fruit, cheese and snacks on Sunday. All this and I got to see UNT win TWICE!

Greatness...Coach Lama is doing a great job for UNT...really a family atmosphere with games for the fans at the doubles/singles switchover break!

If you have not seen a match, I highly recommend that you stop by and watch one soon. Great fun and these ladies are all business once they step on the court. Really had a great time!

Well done ladies! You rock!

Yes, Coach Lama has done a spectacular job and the team just keeps getting better and better. The current group of students he has are all absolutely amazing ladies that are equally skilled athletically and academically. Great things are ahead for this group. They've already been conference champs. They've already been nationally ranked. Time to perform well at the NCAA's. Why not the Mean Green?! Go get 'em!

Interesting week for the Lady Eagles Tennis Team, ranked #57 as of Feb.19th (down from #56)...Arizona (Tied for #30, up from #33) on Saturday and TCU (#28, up from #34) on Wednesday. Beating either team would be a great win for the ladies....whoever has the most depth will hold the edge. I have watched several matches and we have great physical strength if we can keep in the matches early. I can't make the match on Saturday but hope to make the TCU match on Wednesday. Come out and support the team if you can....free admission and crowd support may make the difference since these are home matches against tough competition!

Go Mean Green!

If Lama wants to move the ladies up in rankings they need to split these matches at the least. This will help them come NCAAeeding time and possibly shift them into a 3 seed and allow them to stay away from a Top 16 team first round, granted they got a bum draw last year as a 3 seed drawing #17 Nebraska.

These matches and the upcoming ranked matches such as #24 GA Tech, #52 Columbia, #65 Wichita State, #33 Tulsa, and #58 GA State matches are huge matches for ranking and seeding.

Sleeper matches to watch out for are ULM and Louisville
