I actually do expect an announcement soon. RV has made some mistakes over the years, as have we all, but he is not a stupid man.

I do believe Benford needs to go but I would of like to see what he could of done with a full healthy roster.

I think with a full, healthy roster, he might have felt he had the backup necessary to charge at Brady and start swinging, instead of just pointing, yelling, and cursing.

But, we'll never know for sure.

if RV does fire Benford would you go get Fraschilla? I know we love the uTA coach but can we really pry him out of his new arena?

You are the most knowledgeable person on this message board when it comes to College Basketball. Do you believe that Coach Benford will be fired this year?

You are kind to say that, but I most definitely am not. I wasn't even the most knowledgeable guy on the podcast, and that was a 2 man show. He was the brains, I was just sex appeal.

To answer your question... Unless something happens that voids his contract or otherwise absolves us of our financial commitment to him... No.

I don't think there is any way he gets terminated if we have to eat over one and a quarter million dollars in salary.

I fear you are right. The thing is it will cost this university so much more long term to NOT terminate the contract.

But, we are UNT, and all we ever do is look at this year's bottom line.

TJ Taylor and Walton out so yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Not trying to make excuses, just want to see what would happen.

Taylor isn't eligible this year per NCAA transfer rules. He had to sit anyway to so being able to get his shoulder fixed is one thing, but he wouldn't have been on the court this year except in practice.

Question: If Benford lands another position as an assistant, would that salary be deducted from the buyout? I know that this would be the case if he were to be hired as a head coach, but does the same apply to all college coaching jobs?

Also, is there a clause in his contract pertaining to extreme incompetence and lack of collegiality toward fellow conference coaches? Just kidding!

      A troll? I have been a fan, including student and alumni, since 1965. Think you've got me mistaken with someone else. 1. Do that every year. 2. Shirt giveaway for last night's retro night. They called it "Retro Night" and did nothing retro other than give out t's to the first 500 fans. How did they market that? Email to alumni and ticket holders three or four days prior. 3. Do people really look at the schedule and decide that frisbee dogs will make them attend? 4. Denton student day. I am assuming you are referencing the 11am tip-off women's game that, by nature of the tip time, limits attendance to those students. Sorry, I see a lack of creativity and effort because they were doing these same things in the mid 70's when I attended as a kid. I am well aware that we don't choose the announcers. Not by point. Do I think they provided them with incorrect information? Nope, that topic was probably never addressed in the production meeting, but someone from the department should be monitoring the broadcast to correct stupid comments like the one mentioned last night and referenced above. He was complimentary of UNT during the broadcast, but he pulled that "fact" out of his ass and someone should be there to correct them.

      Adding Texas State feels like such an easy call to me. It would be good for attendance and give our fans another easy road game.

      The prestige of the PAC is dead, and @NorthTexasWeLove is right: we are entering an era (if we aren't there already lol) where geography is a much bigger priority for non-Power leagues. I hope we do away with this notion that we should share a G conference with California or Washington schools. It's already a whip that we are in one with schools that sit just off the eastern coast. I don't get the idea of if-Tigers-go-we-need-to-follow. I think it makes more sense to be attached to Texas State than Memphis.

      First of all, I know you're a troll and have been for many years. Over the past 10 years, you probably don't have 5 positive posts on this board. However, to answer your question (1) discount and multi game ticket packages offered, (2) shirt give aways, (3) various forms of half-time performances, (4) Denton student day. You wanted 1 there's 4! If you would like to provide the AD with an unlimited marketing budget to do what you would like then go ahead! As for the announcers, NT doesn't control who ESPN sends. If they mistake on air that's on them. Do you really believe our SID gave them incorrect information? I listened to Hank's interview with the announcer in the pre-game show. He was very knowledgeable and complimentary of NT. If he made a mistake, it was just that...a mistake. It wasn't because he didn't know anything about NT or we intentionally gave him incorrect information.

      Power Conferences making their move to take full control

      Here in Florida the SEC homers are using SMU's presence in the playoff to "prove" that the ACC is not a legitimate Power conference. Heard it on Jacksonville sports radio this morning from a host who went to UF. The game's rigged for the big dogs and they keep making their club more exclusive all the time. Everybody else in the FBS is the Washington Generals. I wish the G5 schools would create their own organization to work together more strongly for a future that doesn't suck.
