You mean it is more important based upon how they develop than on the random stars Rivals assigns coming out of high school that has no rhyme or reason? You don't say.

Depends.

If I'm a coach in trouble, I want lots of stars to calm the fans down and be able to tell people I need a couple years for those high star recruits to develop.

If I'm selling subscriptions to a web site cashing in on fans desire to count stars can make me some money.

Back in 1990 and 1991 we had a coach who generated a lot of excitement with highly regarded recruits. About 1/3rd couldn't get in school, about 1/3rd couldn't stay out of trouble. The other 1/3rd... well one of them eventually became our AD so it wasn't a total bust.

NT sould at least get Tx. Tech to come to Denton.

Tech won't schedule us anytime soon because they play Baylor here every year and then play TCU every other year. I'm sure they will drop SMU soon, too. On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me to see us play them in Lubbock. I could see them buying a game out there in OOC. The teams that would visit here from the Big XII are up north--OSU, KU, KSU, and ISU ought to be the targets for home-and-home series. I still think that Colorado, Nebraska, and Mizzou would play games down here, too, just to get a foothold back in Texas recruiting again.
