Kahlee Woods already knew quite a bit about UNT before visiting the school over the weekend. Zac Whitfield — one of Woods’ former Sherman teammates — plays for the Mean Green and the school is right up the road.

What Woods had always heard is that the school’s football program has a family-like atmosphere.

Woods’ experiences during an official visit over the weekend bolstered that feeling.

“It went great,” Woods said. “I went in there with an open mind. I know Zac and he talked about how everyone is part of the family there. When I went home, I felt like that was true. They made me feel at home.”

Woods said long before he visited UNT that he would take all of his official visits after narrowing the list of schools he is considering to four — UNT, Texas Tech, New Mexico and Colorado State.

I wish that I could feel good about this one. If Tech were not in the mix perhaps I would. But, Kahlee Woods is the key to this being a good class or one of less than quality.

In spite of Chad Davis and Jermaine Antoine, both of whom would've been on my preferred list from the gitgo, and getting Juco all-Americans James Jones and Justin Manu and three other JC signees, this class needs Woods to put us over the line. The loss of prospects and commit Tanzel Smart, D.J. Dean, and Sergio Medina have really dampened my enthusiasm for this recruiting class.

Kahlee Woods could restore my faith in our ability to recruit quality players. I believe that Woods would be happier here and have a better chance for post-season honors at North Texas. He would be the big fish here vs. another fish at Tech. He no-doubt starts whereever he chooses but I think that he would stand out more here.

I appreciate the fact that he gave us a fair shot and I wish him great success whomever he chooses.
