What are y'alls expectations for Mac this up coming football season? I have have always believed Mac has to have a winning season by his third year. This was prior to the move to cusa and the step up in competition. I still believe he will need to do well this season, but how well is the question. What are y'alls opinions on the matter?

P.S. I am typing from my phone and I have fat fingers.

I expect our best season in over 10 years.

Breaking the all time attendance record as well as quite a few single game attendance records.

With what I think we will have as a team, a bowl game should be awaiting us at the end of the season.

I wouldn't be surprised if we win the west in CUSA.

Oh and I expect us to have a TABC license for this upcoming season for UNT Athletics.

I too think the attendance record is very realistic.

It will be interesting to see how our non-conference opponents' fans show up since Muncie, Indiana and Moscow, Idaho are both flights. Texas Southern fans showed up last year, I was pretty impressed.

I predict that we will score a big road conference upset this year and win three conference road games.

If we do I will pee all over myself!!!

Gotta win. Not winning, and the fans won't show.

I like the way we have played on the road under Mac and I think this will be the year we break through with W's to show for it.

The only conference road game that looks particularly tough is Tulsa and I have a good feeling those guys will underestimate us this year. I hope we make them pay for it.

Well, I just predicted 5-7 in the prediction thread a day or two ago. I guess those are the same as my expectations?

After the 2011 season, I surely would have predicted/expected a winning season for 2013; but after last year's step back in win total, it's tough to predict a winning season against superior competition to what we've been facing.

As far as what Mac needs to do, he will be back in 2014 even if he goes winless. But how he does will certainly affect how hot that seat is--it will take a winning season in 2013 to keep his seat completely cool and comfortable heading into the 2014 season.

If there is no consistent pass rush and no ability to stop the run, I expect more 4-8.

If the only real receiving threat, again, is Chancellor, I expect more 4-8.

Players are going to have to decide to do it this year. They have stability in the coaching staff. They have new facilities. They have fan support. They are doing well in class. They have access to all the Choki Choki they can stomach. It's time to do something with it.

I've spent so much capital on believing the coaches make it work, but...it' really time at this place for the players to own up and do something. They aren't wallowing away at Fouts anymore with the AD and head coach fightiing, or AD foisting high school coaches on them.

They have what they need to win. The 2013 season will tell whether or not this group of players have the will to prepare for a bowl season. If they don't well...at least our assistant coaches aren't molesting children. We'll always have that going for us.

I tend to agree with you, although it is very early to be making predictions.

I would throw QB on the worry list. We will either be starting a QB that the coaching staff showed no confidence in at the end of last year, or we will be starting a QB with zero college experience in Burgland. Not a great option either way.

I see 6 possible wins. I saw eight possible wins last year. So I'll go with 3-9 this year.

Hope I'm wrong.

I'd like to actually see some of the new faces perform before being totally on board for an above .500 season but I believe that all of the elements are there except for the defensive line. Either the coaching, talent and/or attitude continues to worry me. We have too many undersized players to really feel comfortable. If the DL answers the bell then I believe that an eight win season is likely.

Mac already has more wins in two season than Dodge had in 4, so I'm not ready to start with the hot seat talk.

I think it's an uphil climb to 6-6 in a tougher CUSA, but I think a bowl is possible.

A lot will depend on our recruiting class, including junior college transfers. We have the coaches, facilities, fan base etc. We need athletes. I am going for 7-5, but that is prompted by a feeling that we are overdue for a little good luckfinally coming our way.

You make a very important point about the qb competition. I just can't see the coaches sticking with DT after the lack of confidence they showed in him that you pointed out.

As for having a qb with no experience, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Look at Marcus Mariota from Oregon and Johnny Heisman for A&M, both first year starters. It does help that they each had stacked teams but they performed well personally for first-year starters to say the least.

Also, prior to this past BCS championship game, the starting qb on the winning team had been a first-year starter for the previous three champs.

It can be a bad thing too, but I think the important thing is that Berglund improves in his time as our starter. I never saw improvement in DT over two years which is why I think it's time for a change.
