---That kid has to be the dumbest most gullible kid I have ever heard of or he was part of a scam to get attention.... If she was the love of his life, did he attend the funeral or even send flowers .....and how did his parents actually meet her as reported and know her.... if she didn't exist....

Doesn't help the ND image either way... very dumb students or not very honest.

I vote scam.

I think I accidentally erased the two page discussion "Say It Aint So...Te'o" on this over on the FOOTBALL forum? I didn't realize you could do that with an iPhone? I apologize.

Regardless, there are now reports that Te'o had mentioned several times in interviews that he had met the girl in person, not just over the phone or Internet.

He's either a pathological liar and has mental problems or this has been one of the greatest sports hoax in many years?

You actually believe he was tricked!?!?!

You don't think he knew at all that this was fake? There's no way!

Who was he talking to on the phone? She had leukemia and he never visited? It was an online relationship and he didn't ditch her after he didn't get any "special photos".

This thing stinks.

WHO CARES

..

---I do ..... and apparently a lot of other people.... Lance Armstrong seems to have problems now as did Pete Rose, and Barry Bonds et.al. who did not get elected to Hall of Fame.. Even Nixon was forced out because of his lies.. Most seem to believe the ND player was trying to attract attention to himself to maybe win a Heisman.... which would deny (steal) it from someone else. It even bothers me about all the lying emails and radio claims that have been circulated making crazy claims such as born in Kenya, attended Medrasa, etac... can't trust those people. ... As long as you accept that as ok... you will be lied to by bosses, your children, spouses, politians, friends etc. ....

Personally I believe "Thou shall not bear false witness"... apparently some people in sports, politics, and other places don't. The prisons are full of people who don't believe in or tell the truth... Madoff for one, and even some Enron folks (should be more of those guys locked up).

Do you know for a fact that Te'o was a part of the lie? He says that he had no knowledge of the hoax. Maybe he did and maybe he didn't but let the authorities sort out what actually happened. Until then, I'm withholding judgment. But on a scale of 1-10 this ranks about .5 to me.

Well that leaves "option one" I stated... He is unbelievably gullible..... This went on for months and he never caught on.... One would think a person of his age and with his education wouldn't be.... But it appears that is the case.

"How Much Is Winning The Hiesman Worth?"

http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=playbookdollars&id=2537

.."All told, Baylor estimates the Heisman win was worth $250 million in extra donations, increased ticket sales, licensing fees, sponsorship deals, an expanded deal with Fox Sports Southwest, and higher corn dog sales...."

If ND knew in November about the scandal they were then just as responsible for a scandal in keeping a lid on it through final Hiesman voting. I hope they get their ass in a crack over this.

Screaming – that’s a far stretch lumping him in with PED cheaters, a gambler and a disgraced president. If he was duped, if he perpetrated the lie or whatever happened it did not “enhance” or benefit him on the field or professionally.

There is a price to pay and it will come in the form of draft location and the NFL salary that comes with it. His draft prospect has dropped because of this and that means a loss in potential salary. Character does get considered when drafting. He will get picked up by some team. It just may not be in the draft position he was expecting.
