Andrew Everest wasnt even supposed to go to Texas College of Mines.

Born in Wichita Falls in 1924, Everest moved to West Texas in 1937 when his father, who worked as a mediator in the oil business, was sent to Odessa.

Thats where he was in the winter of 1941, having just finished his junior year of football for the Bronchos and coach Joe Coleman.

Then, walking out of the movie theater one sunny December day, with girlfriend Bonnie alongside, Everests world was turned upside down along with most others in the United States.

We came out of the theater and we see Hayden Fry yelling "The Japs have bombed Pearl Harbor", Everest said. Well that changed everything.
