I just don't really see how you're justifying that his numbers were down.

You don't see a difference between a year with 14 TDs and 14 Ints versus a year (shortened by injuries) with 11 TDs and 6 Ints? I'm not really even sure what to say to that.

Oh come on, he missed one full game that year. We opened the playbook up for him this year (mainly by necessity) and as a result he made more mistakes and threw more interceptions.

His numbers really weren't that different other than an increase in overall attempts, which increased touchdowns, yards, and interceptions. Average-based stats stayed relatively the same, such as completion percentage, qb rating, and yards per attempt (actually went up a noticeable amount).

Please, as a relatively new member to this fanbase, don't subject yourself to this mediocrity. I'm sure he's a good guy and he gets good grades and all, but DT is not what a starting division 1 quarterback should look like.

I know he's a step up production wise from what we've had since Scott Hall, but I feel like because of that some of our expectations have been lowered.

He missed the entire Tulsa game and played what . . . 3 plays of the ASU game?

There was a change from almost a 2:1 TD to interception ratio to a 1:1 ratio. That is a huge difference. That's not to say that I think DT was playing at an elite level that year. I think I made pretty clear that I don't think DT is an elite QB. I'll admit, I get a little defensive when people start attacking players publicly. But if he plays like he did in 2011, he won't be the factor that keeps us from reaching 6 wins.

I feel like he and our defense are holding us back. The worst part about his season was that he made no improvement at all as the season progressed. That's admirable to be defensive of your team's players, but we need to make and take any upgrade to our team that we can, especially at the most important position in football. I understand your point, but after the last two years a lot of us want to see someone at qb with more physical capabilities like Berglund.

Another jump on Thompson thread. I think there is a very good chance that Thompson will be the starter next year. Most hope not, because we want Berglund to be the elusive star QB that NT hasn't had in ages. He may be, but we are putting a lot of hope in a player that hasn't played since HS.

Thompson has not shown to be the type of QB that wins games, NT should not win. However, his cast of receivers were not fb level and QB is far from the only position that lacked last year.

So I hope there is a lot of QB competition, don't discount Mc's favorite McNulty to battle along with Berglund and Thompson. It should be at least competition, unlike last year, and whoever is chosen should have a better year than last.

We had a ton of receivers quit on routes after we lost our only receiver with any speed in Chancellor and a top RB in Jimmerson. DT carried ten extra pounds in 2012 because there was absolutely no one behind him if he went down. He will have shed those ten lbs. in spring. The QB that beat Troy at home in 2011 for our only win ever at Troy and was on fire against top rate competition at KSU and will have his fourth year under Canales will blow away Berglund who hasn't played in two years and McNulty is not even in the hunt--too short and if you saw him @ Tulsa in 2011 you would know there is absolutely no chance that he will ever be a starter.
