Multiple sources within the UNT athletic department confirmed this afternoon that Louisville defensive back and former Segoville standout Zed Evans is in the process of transferring to UNT to use his final year of eligibility.

Evans will play in the Sugar Bowl and then join the Mean Green in time for spring practice. Evans will graduate before leaving Louisville, which will allow him to be eligible immediately at UNT.

Evans plays primarily on special teams at Louisville, but did post 12 tackles in 12 games. He was credited with breaking up one pass and defending another. He also had one tackle for loss.

UNT will play Evans at strong safety.

Evans will play for Louisville in the Sugar Bowl against Florida before transferring.

sounds good. Particularly because this is a player who does not come because he could not have stayed where he was, instead he comes because he was smart enough to graduate early. There should be respect for that kind of thing.

Let's see. Evans is coming here to grad school, spending hours in the weight room, meetings and on the practice field, foregoing that study time and he's doing all of this on his dime? Great sacrifice, Zed.
