So this is purely coming from me not knowing / unwilling to comb through NCAA by-laws on the matter:

Are really good student athletes who do not get picked up on a professional level out of graduation have any options of continuing their sport at other schools whilst going after Masters..... doctorates?

Does this sort of thing ever happen?

Yes... if they have not used all 5 of their eligibility years during their undergrad. They can TRANSFER and play immediately if they transfer into a post-grad program that is not offered at their previous school.

Aha. Well Cool.

Is that part of the Case Keenum story?

I think Keenum got a redshirt, then was granted a Medical Hardship Waiver one year. So instead of 5 years to play 4, he got 6 years to play 4. I dunno if he enrolled in graduate school at that time.

Since we're on it...anyone want to take a stab at naming the mom mst recent (to my knowledge anyway) collegiate athlete who played 5 full seasons at the college level?

I'm sure there are several who have taken advantage of the new 4 yr. graduate and transfer rule, the one that comes to mind is the Wilson kid who is now the QB at Seattle.
