Dallas will have a close connection to the new Bowl Subdivision college football playoff regardless of whether the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic and Cowboys Stadium are involved.

The administration for the BCS successor will be headquartered in the Dallas metropolitan area, BCS executive director Bill Hancock confirmed Tuesday.

Our staff will be there including me, Hancock said in an email. We will have a relatively small staff, perhaps six to eight administrators. All of us will be traveling a fair bit. We are just now beginning to consider possible locations for the office.

The organization hopes to find a location convenient to both D/FW International Airport and Love Field, Hancock said.

The four-team playoff is expected to create even more interest in college footballs postseason. ESPN has already won the rights to televise the playoff, agreeing to pay a reported $470 million annually on a 12-year contract.

North Texas stake in the playoff could grow even more. The Cotton Bowl should know by April whether it has landed one of three access bowl spots to join the playoff system and national semifinal rotation.

I would love to see the job descriptions for the new shop.

Wanted: Well connected big wigs to fly around and watch college football games. The job requires no real math skills because a computer evaluates the teams. Salary: 400,000 plus all expenses.
