James Jones, a former Houston-area standout who spent the last two seasons playing for Kilgore College, said Friday afternoon that he has decided to commit to UNT.

Jones has a weekend visit to Houston set up, but said that he is not sure if he will take the trip after deciding to play for the Mean Green.

Jones said he discussed his options with his family and decided on UNT.

He plans on telling UNTs coaches this weekend.

Yes, that is what I am talking about. Mississippi State, Houston, Troy and New Mexico all offered Jones a scholarship.

Year 3 will be the program-changer for Coach McCarney and staff as many of us have been saying even before Year 2. This is a great start toward a great 3'rd year for all. I hope there will be 3 or 4 more JUCO's that will complement those coming back which will get us jump-started toward getting a multi-season winning streak airborne and that begins with Year 1--our first in CUSA.

Congrats to the Mean Green coaching staff! Keep up the good work and quality of signees that other quality NCAA FBS level schools wanted.
