Recall that we were in the hunt for Berglund before he ever went to JUCO, and passed up on a big-name QB transfer at the time so we could get Berglund. Other schools were recruiting Berglund at the time (I remember FIU, forget who else). He went to JUCO to open up his options, and then for whatever reason(s) (see above as one possibility), he decided that we were his best option.

Pretty much fact. As I recall, he didn't get into class until a week or so after classes started and left the JUCO after their fall game. He was in competition for the starting job at that JUCO, if you will remember.

This has been discussed before, if Berglund played for the Juco he would have to miss the spring at North Texas and decided to transfer instead. He hung around Scottsdale long enough to grab a cup of coffee.. if you want to paint a picture that he "lost" the starting job there in his short stay so be it but unless you have proof it remains speculation on your part.

We passed on Scotty from Denton who transferred from Tech to Tech.

Not trying to paint that picture at all. He was in competition for the starting job according to the coaches there, he did play in the fall game, and then he did make a very late decision to come to UNT.

Those are just facts.

EDIT: A QB from U of Hawaii also transferred in to that JUCO at the same time as Berglund, so there absolutely was a battle on for that QB position.

Scotty Young from Denton Ryan. And if UNT's luck holds, he will go on to be an all conference CUSA QB for the Bulldogs. :-)

I believe I heard/ read he wanted to play here but didn't get an offer.

The La Tech board had someone state that they knew some Texas Tech staff who had said that Scotty's natural ability to play QB was fantastic but that his decision making skills were lacking and that is why he never made the cut.

Scotty is a gamer. Still would have been great to have him.

By the way, does anybody know if Brock rents or owns a home here in Denton? I'd like to get a jump on it and beat everybody else to it.

Does he know where his dog is?

Well he is in a frat and has a gf one one of our sports teams. I would say he has settled down nicely.

Stalker?

I didn't realize we passed up Scotty Young? I thought he chose La Tech over UNT?

I thought that part of Scotty going to La Tech was because he would have a chance to play baseball there as well as football, something we can't offer him (or anybody else).

Same decision making skills that led him to decide to go to La Tech?

couldn't help myself.

He's been on campus all season, so I really wouldn't worry about it.
