The almighty UT Longhorns lost 86-73 to DivisionII Chaminade Univ. on national TV in the Maui Invitational.

How Rick Barnes is still the HC right now is beyond me. Seriously.

The guy gets 1-3 NBA draft picks every year but has NEVER done anything but make it to 1 Final Four that was in San Antonio.

It will be interesting to see how the UT fan base reacts.

I remember Chaminade beat OU in the same tournament a couple of years ago and that was Capel's last season. As for Rick Barnes he still has a long leash left as he's still been able to be a really solid recruiter and can usually still manage solid teams.

lol I guess this makes the UAH sting a little less painful.

Well remember the reaction on our board after that one? No imagine the reaction the fans of the allmighty UT will have. I think I may just head over to a go reading a board of theirs, just for a bit of Schadenfreude.

And yes, because it makes loosing to UAH more bearable if someone does us one over on the worst loss with a good team column

hey at least the UA-H was not on national tv for millions to see.

Similar to win when Chaminade beat Ralph Sampson and the mighty Cavs

That is the one saving grace.

UT isn't the #1 team in the land. Virginia was. That win against Virginia is the reason we all know who Chaminade is.

And for those who think coaching doesn't matter in college basketball and all you have to do is get top talent, yelp, Exhibit A.

We shouldn't compare bad losses to other bad losses. NT actually has a lot ot prove and still trying to acheive that "next level" as an athletics program and from a perception standpoint. Yes Texas losing to Chaminade is terrible but at the end of the day they're still Texas.

I watched the entire second half of this game and while at the end it was obvious that Texas was the far superior team they had just dug themselves too big a hole and couldn't crawl out...

But, that being said, the best player on the court by a longshot was De'Andre Haskins of Chaminade... He was a complete beast and damn near held the Horns off by himself at the end when it looked like Chaminade was going to choke the game away...

Texas had no one even in his league...

Chaminade is now something like 8-75 in the Maui Invitational...

But they are DII and they have wins over Texas, Oklahoma, Stanford, Villanova, Princeton, Virginia, etc...

Good for them...

Nobody does less with more.

The only reason I know (now) about Chaminade is because I was looking for something analogous to our loss that would ease the pain.

Until then, this college sports fan never got wind of them.

I hate the UAH loss too, but I think Rick is right: no one knows about it?

Cleveland State only beat UAH by two even after they beat us, soundin the alarm that teams needed to be prepared against them. The team was unprepared and poorly coached, which led to a loss in a game we should have won easily, but just because UAH is division 2 does not mean they are incapable of playing good basketball.

Rick Barnes gets paid 2.2 million a year* though, he deserves this

They are calling for his head

Chaminde has:

A 2012 athletics budget of 1.4 million dollars

A 2012 recruiting budget of $10,000

2800 total students

A nine million dollar endowment

No PHD programs and five masters programs

*Barnes got a raise last year and now actually makes 2.4 million a year.
