Hahaha. http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64148

There's a comment that an SMUtter would rather go to Div-IAA or cease football operations than come down to our level or that of SHSU.

Hahahaha.

Much as I hate to admit, SoCal_pony is right. "At some point economics has to take over."

The 10 year deal on the four team playoff is going to do nothing but make the current $$ gap between haves and have nots look minuscule by the time it has run its term. Smu is at the wrong table and getting shut out of playoff money means that their spending needs to increase dramatically if they want to change that. Obviously they've got more than a few rich alums, but can they convince them to give more?

Well the $2M/year they "ponied up" hasn't gotten them much, yet... at least not much more than the peanuts (comparatively) we pay coaches. So who knows how willing they'll be to dig deep again for another uncertain initiative.

They should call it the "Pony Upper" campaign. Because it's even more ponying up. Your'e welcome, Richards Group.
