Population: 113,383

Closest major highway: Interstate 35

And the winner is Denton, Texas! Denton placed first overall in a dominant fashion: it also was voted the friendliest town, the most fun town, the fourth-best town for food, and the ninth-most patriotic town in the country.

Denton has a trendy yet diverse arts and live music scene, a handful of colleges — University of North Texas, Texas Women’s University, and North Central Texas College — and some impressive local horse farms where visitors can tour and ride.

  • I have lived in Denton and Murray, KY and Denton is better hands down. Murray was boring as heck for me. One thing about Murray that may be hard for most people to understand is that there is virtually no crime. Up until the 1990s, folks still left their car keys in the ignition. Never took them out. The local food in Western KY is not good and very unhealthy and their are not many jobs in Murray either. Nice place though.

I do find it strange that 2-10 were small, then bam, 100k plus wins!

I like Denton either way. I thought of moving back there upon my return to the Metroplex but Frisco won for a couple reasons like 121, schools, wife said so, ect...

I'm getting my coaching experience in around Texas but ultimately I would love to end up in Denton. Just something about the town. Plus I love being around the university....the square has really stepped its game up as well
