Let me preface this by saying that I'm not sure I've ever been more disappointed by a loss, and we have had more tough losses on the gridiron than I care to count.

Okay, hear me out. I think by now it's pretty clear that this team bought into their own hype. That is the worst thing you can possibly do as a basketball team. With that being the case, if a loss to a freaking Division 2 school doesn't wake them up, then nothing will. This team better start playing with a hell of a lot more urgency, or things aren't going to get much better. This loss is flat out embarrassing, but I'm not giving up on a basketball team in November. That's foolish. There's way too much basketball left to be played.

Keep calm, and Go Mean Green.

Fudge hype. Fudge hype.

Hype or not, we somehow managed NOT to lose to a non-D1 team for 27 years. Trilli didn't do it.

This same team, more short handed and with less talent, won 18 games last year and was one minute away from the NCAA tournament.

Don't talk about hype. This is about incompetence.

I guess we'll know a little more tomorrow night after both games in Manhattan. IF we somehow put together a quality game and whip Lamar, and IF Huntsville gives KState all they can handle, then maybe some of our crying can cease for the moment. Regardless, this is certainly a tearful way to begin this season.

This was about a team thinking that wins would just be handed to them because they are god's gift to basketball. Well, now I think they're quite aware that is not the case. You gotta go out there and play your ass off whether you're playing against Duke, Kentucky, or yes, even Alabama-Huntsville. I'm not making excuses. You should NEVER lose to a Division 2 school. But, in the end, maybe it's a good thing that we did, because hopefully it will wake them up.

This is about a poorly coached basketball team that can't shoot the basketball.

I think this will sadly bear itself out as we move forward.

There's no silver lining in this.

We traded the guy who built the Titanic for the captain who ran it into an iceberg.

Well last year, the guy that built the Titanic had 2 of the engines fail when were halfway across the Atlantic. At least this year, we're still close enough to shore to go back and get it fixed.

The silver lining is, at least with this coach we won't have to pay out all 5 years on the contract if we cut him loose early.

We should have any number of reasons to do it "with cause" and void whatever is left on the deal if and when that should become necessary.

The guy this year has yet to figure out to turn the engines ON.

That might be understandable, but so far he has turned the engines off. The one thing I wasn't expecting for this team was a regression from last year. We better get some positive signs quickly, or this board's going to explode before it becomes barren.

Pretty sad when even Vic Trilli is laughing a you. There is NO silver lining. There is No teachable moment here. We just lost to a D2 school. I had almost forgotten what a nut kick feels like. The ball pain had almost subsided but there it is again. Squarely to the nards. Pain shooting up both sides right to my freshly ripped out heart. Vito has a great piece in the blog about comfort level in the new system and blah blah blah. We should have been able to suit up our last five and easily whip a D2 school. Gonna love to hear TB and RV spin this one. On the bright side we will get to hear our friends and colleagues wonderful retorts at the water cooler of Hell tomorrow. It's like I am Bill Murray and I keep hearing "I've Got You Babe". Even Jerry Sandusky and David Petraeus feel bad about our situation. I've only been doing this for 19 years. How do some of you old timers take it.

F him, Tech can have Benford. He might even be available before the season is out at this rate.

I was more wondering what Tasty was implying. Seemed to be something worse than losing this game.

BURN THEM! BURN THEM AT THE STAKE! HUMAN SACRIFICE IS REQUIRED TO APPEASE THE KRAKEN! (sorry, watched Clash of the Titans on duty yesterday.)

Keep calm, chive on, Green brothers. This will be corrected and we'll be fine. It's two games in, no one needs to be on the ledge this early.
