Scholarship allotment issue - what the what?

I get the feeling that a few fans would like to find some way to blame McCarney for the scholarship fiasco.
That blame is totally misplaced. He inherited the mess.
Signing a bunch of jucos for an instant fix without an eye to the future is one way to go, but it will bite you in the long run every time.

Mac said we were 18 down after signing the last class, now we are 11 down, which means 7 walk-ons earned a scholly? Good for them, but they are already here, and those are 7 ships that could be used for addistionsl players. I'm not saying you dont give a kid who earned it the 'ship, but I doubt 7 guys a year are earning ships at other programs.

I believe we signed 25 last year, and had a couple gray shirt just in case a late signee became available (see Brock Berglund). Hopefully, with only 11 down and 11 leaving, we will be able to sign 25 this year to get full (only if we find 25 kids whose talent deserve a scholly).

This program has been mismanaged for so long, it isn't even funny.

I think maybe since we are limited to signing 25 in any one year, that we handed out more scholarships to walkons this past year or two because otherwise those scholarships would be unused since we were capped at signing 25 new players, but still under the 85 limit.
