MS 150

Has anybody ever done this? Or is anybody thinking/interested in doing this? If so, would you be interested in forming a team, would be a great way to raise some money for a great cause. If interested reply here or PM me. Maybe we could get some team Mean Green jerseys made?

I did the one here in North Texas several times about 6 or 7 years ago. It was a very well supported ride that, at the time, went from Frisco to Oklahoma, and they then bussed you back to Frisco. It's a two day ride (not race) with refreshment stations about every 12 miles. Plenty of sag wagons if you just can't make it (p word).

THe North Texas one was a big ride, but the Houston to Austin ride is supposed to be even bigger. They have bee dong this a long time, so they have pretty much gotten all the kinks worked out and it runs like a well oiled machine (at least it did here in North Texas and the Houston ride is even older). It's obviously for a very good cause.

They do have a bottom fundraising "limit" of what used to be $300 to participate in the race. Pretty easy to get there through work and friends.

I would do this. Hell, I need to get back on the bike, and this would be the perfect reason to train.

And to brag, I did the 2003 MS150 on a mountain bike. Of course, I was in much better shape back then. I would not suggest this form of transportation for anyone.

150 on a mountain bike would suck! Thought you would find this story funny.

These bikes are basically just wheels, and handlebars, not a lot of shifting to be done.

Holy crap!! That would completely suck.

Funny, cause it looks like this guy didn't really know anything about road biking before just deciding to do that on a whim, much like my decision in 2003. I had mountain biked, and knew that road bikes were much lighter, but I figured the pavement vs. loose dirt trails would even out the weight issue. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Funny thing was, we did 85 miles the first day, and I was fine, but we were heading north, with a strong south wind. The second day, that wind started blowing from the southwest at 30 mph and we were heading due west through rolling hills. It about kilt me.

Shortly after, I purchased a road bike, and the following two 150s I did were much more enjoyable.
