DRC Monday column: No denying it, this one hurt for UNT

So we can't get to a place where the better talent looks at us as an option until we beat the Houstons and SMU's of the world. BUT, we can't beat those programs without the aforementioned "better talent". So which argument is this...Chicken or egg, or Catch 22?

You do it a couple of players at a time. Coach Mac has the team going into every game expecting to win and they are now mad at a loss. That attitude is going to start drawing better players a few at a time and will start showing a few more wins. It builds on itself. Just ask Major Major.

I don't care about UNT's improvement until it can be measured in wins.

Gagree. The path to more W's seems to be to improve from within and improve our schedule by getting rid of the money games. Both things will give us a better chance to win each game we play. I am confident we will win our fair share of games where we are evenly matched.

If you go back an look, when we won consistently in the Fry and Dickey years, we were not pulling off upsets every week. For the most part, we were equally matched or better than the teams we were playing. As we get better, our competition can get better. Trying to shortcut the process is a recipe for failure.
