GoMeanGreen.com is proud to offer a fan's weekly take of everything Mean Green Sports with The GoMeanGreen Barbershop Podcast offered up fresh and live on Wednesday nights @9pm CST - before, during and after the Mean Green Football Season. UNT Alums and certifiable Mean Green fanatics Evan Dolezal and Harry Miers host the show but also have regular guests such as The Denton Record Chronicle's North Texas Beat Writer Brett Vito, and others including gomeangreen.com board favorites. We also offer some great guests including, UNT AD Rick Villarreal, Head Football Coach Dan McCarney and Coach Mike "Chico" Canales with more to come. In addition, we often will go "Open Mike" and get fans and alumni of the program to join in the fun. Football is the special on the menu, but we also discuss other sports topics of interest. Bottomline: anything and everything UNT is fair game on the show. We like to call it like it is from a fans perspective and you will see us dishing out plenty of "hot mean green sports opinions" along the way.

This season has been especially fun as we are past our 110th broadcast and have been able to incorporate a live audio and video feed via ustream which allows the listeners to participate in the podcast, asking questions via the gomeangreen.com chat room. During our recent podcast with North Texas AD Rick Villarreal, fans were able to listen to the pod and ask questions on a real time basis.

      Improving the Student Game Day Experience

      It pains me reading comments saying "the DJ is too loud" and "I can't have a nice conversation with the people near me." I think everyone appreciates fans being at the game, but lets not add "its too loud at the live sporting event" to feedback we're giving the AD. Energy builds energy. The game day experience needs to start being geared towards fans under 50. I truly worry about the lack of 22-50 year old fans in our stadium each week. We are in trouble in the coming decades if we do not age the experience down to cast a wider net and get more fans at the game. If you want a calm experience where you can have a nice dinner and listen to a 30-60 second delayed game day radio feed, the ticket office would love to sell you some Hub Club tix. I see people every game that never ever leave the tables inside at the Hub Club to go to their seats outside. And people advocating to put students in the Wing seating must have never sat there or hate our students. Endzone seating views aren't good at any stadium. Our stadium usually looks more full than it actually is because we have students in the sunny east bleachers filling in seats that otherwise would be a hard sell the first half of the season.
