THoughts on the Alumni Game

It speaks well for UNT soccer that three professional players returned for an Alumni game. I wish that we could have them on the field all the time, it was an experience to watch.

The new complex is miles ahead of where we were last year, I'm soryy that it is so far from campus, but perhaps a shuttle bus service might be made available for carless students. Still there was a pretty good crowd there last night.

I did get to see a number of the walk-ons and freshman. Again we have some talent that looked pretty good. Many of the girls still have to make the mental adjustment to the college game, I saw a number of passes that were much too short because the freshman didn't anticipate the speed of her team mate.

We also looked a little rusty in some of the team play, but overall I thought we looked as good as what I saw last year. We don't have as much depth at some positions, and goalie will be a concern until the walk-on can prove herself. She made some nice saves last night, but I don't think she was prepared fot the speed or shooting from the Alumni.

It is going to be an interesting year, the field looks like it going to be nice, but I don't know what size it will be. They have room to make it both long and wide, it will be interesting to see what the coaches decided.
