Opportunity knocking

I was perusing the UH and SMU boards and it became very clear to me that if we take care of business against Troy at home and can defeat UofH on the road it really sets us up nicely in recruiting. I think SMU fans were willing to give June Jones the benefit of the doubt after the whole ASU mess but now that his team has laid an egg they are done with him. Houston is really struggling and they are ready to tar and feather Levine.

I think we all know these two have been very difficult for our recruiting and just last season JJ nabbed two guys we had committed late. What a huge boost we could give our rebuilding efforts by having a winning season and beating the Cougars on the road. It seems we find ourselves up against the both of them more often than not on recruits.

Now both SMU and Houston have plenty of season to turn things around. Both could still easily get back to bowl games.

First things first we have to take care of a tough Troy team who gave Mississippi State all they could handle last week. I still would have never thought SMU and Houston would be in this situation heading into this season and it presents a real opportunity for us.

Troy will be a tough game. That os where all the focus should be. That said...

If we can beat Troy, Houston, and FAU, recruiting gets a whole lot easier. I think SMU is definitely on the way down and Houston is facing the sane fate if they can't get it turned around, and quick.

I hope we only have to throw the ball 8 times against Troy and especially against Houston. Wear there defense out while keeping our suspect pass rush/defense off the field.

Interesting times ahead.

I can't remember the last time I was so excited to watch a MG game. (of course I'm excited about every MG game) But there are so many important items wrapped up in this game.

1st conference game

Even match up (I believe the line is a pick-em)

Momentum coming off the best we've looked against a ranked team in a LONG time

Should be a big crowd

The team is confident

This coaching staff is real

The timing is coming together for this program

This is going to be a long week for me anticipating this game....

The Houston game is HUGE, but the Troy game is even more HUGE. Hope we have our strong side defensive depth back in play for both.
