They aren't hiring him away now. I'd be worried if Benford had just had a couple of great years as HC.

Benford would be crazy to leave a great opportunity tihs season at UNT for the train wreck that is TTech basketball right now.

But, it is his Alma Mater...

Benford is not the "NAME" coach that Tech craves. They are just meh in Lubbock and have to have something to sell to the people who attend the games.

At this point I have been unable to confirm Deadspin report that claims Billy Gillispie will be fired at the conclusion of medical leave.

* Keeping players in limbo in regards to their scholarship. Happens all the time, everywhere. Should it? No. Does it? Yes. Coaches, especially ones who are trying to rebuild a roster, continually let one guy dangle in hopes of landing a better player to apply that scholarship. So the lesser players sits as his coach tries to find his replacement.

Sound familar?

If Tech is going to fire BCG, now would be the best time for UNT fans... Surely they would not come after Benford now? He hasn't proven anything.

It would be bad if he coaches this season, his players quit on him, and he gets fired after the season. All the while Benford has a great year with the Mean Green and maybe makes some noise in the tourney. I couldn't imagine them passing on Benford if that scenario unfolded. Then, we'd be stuck looking for yet another b-ball coach.

Rivals is showing the Tech class of 2012 is a class of 9. 9!!!

The class of 2011 is showing 8! And then another 4 committed but not signed. WTF is going on in Lubbock

I know Rivals is not always up to date, but my lord.

Tech has no option but to go Interim with one of the assistants this late in the game. They would be in the market for a new coach right after the 2012-2013 season.

If the Mean Green have a great year, there is every possiblity Tech comes after Benford.

Yep. Really fishy that the day he was supposed to meet with the AD was the same day he initially went to the hospital with a medical condition.
