Saw McDorman(99) playing. What freshman (nonred-shirt) played & how did they do in your estimate?

Sorry - He didn't make the trip.

Whitfield... he did alright I guess... for a freshman... that had never played corner... in teh season opener... in front of 90k fans... on the road... against the team that played for the national championship last year...

Actually, if we want to talk about true freshmen who played, as the title of this thread says . . . Kenny Buyers was the only one.

wait... Whitfield is a redshirt FR?

i take it all back then... Whitfield's performance was average at best

Actually, I'm not certain whether Buyers qualifies as a true. He spent last year as a walkon before earning his scholarship. Had he been on scholarship I know that he would be considered a redshirt freshman. Can you stay on the scout team for a year or more and still have five years to complete your four years eligibility?

Eligibility starts the second you enroll full time in school. You have 5 years, including redshirt, to play 4 seasons ; walk-on or scholarship- makes no difference.
