Will I am not as sure as many who seem to think Odoh will be a bust. I would not be surprised that he turns out to be a very productive player. JJ is not exactly signing a bunch of 4 or 5 stars players yet.

I still think the whole Odoh, JJ, NT thing smells.

I saw him play.

He has a long way to go to be a productive Belt player.

He has light years to go to be anything close to a productive SEC player. Maybe he travels those years, but with a huge learning curve stacked on top of classroom issues, I'd bet he doesn't make it.

Yes, leading the juco nation in rebounds and 3rd in blocks was a fluke. He certainly is not smooth but results do count for something. He may not be pretty but you don't get those stats without a lot of natural ability. NT has a signee in Coleman that did not stand out in juco and a commit Norris that did not even play a lot as a freshman. I hope both of these players turn out to be great but their Juco numbers are nowhere close to Odoh. Norris has another year to shine and Coleman only played one year, so the comparison is tilted in Odoh's favor but he has shown much more than either of them at this point.

I saw him play a couple of times last year and was impressed with his quickness and overall athleticism. He may be skinny and lacking in offensive skills, but I could see the guy coming off the bench next year and putting in 15-20 minutes of nice defensive/board work in the SEC. I wish we would have had room for him, and I hope things work out well for him and JJ.

Think Forrest Robinson last year without the jump shot and you have Odoh at this point. He has only been playing basketball for 4 years, so a light may go on.

It's easy to collect a bunch of rebounds playing against the many 6'7" centers that populate the JUCO ranks. The night I saw him play, he went up against a guy his size from Weatherford JC. He maybe had 7 rebounds. and single digit points. Also, he was supposed to graduate last Spring. He not only needed summer school, but the full fall semester to get there. I fear these problems continue at LSU.

Time will tell.
