Was it just me or did it seem like RB Jimmerson had a short leash last night? I was a little disappointed in his performance (Mac and others had been hyping him in the offseason) but then again its LSU. I felt like Brown had the better game.

Whatever works is fine with me... Byrd had the most touches going into this game and did well on that long drive at the end of the game

Jimmerson is just a fr and will have a bit of time to prove his worth

Jimmerson(8 for 24) and Byrd(14 for 41) both finished with a 2.9 yard per carry average on the night.

The guys ran hard last night but won't make us forget Jamario Thomas, Patrick Cobbs, Tony Galbrath, JaQuay Wilburn or Lance Dunbar anytime soon

Did one of those guys ever put up big numbers against LSU, Bama, UT, OU, et al? I mean, besides Colorado- which was a middling-at-best Big 12 program at the time- I don't think our guys ever put up big numbers against "big programs".

I thought Jimmerson showed a good speed burst when he found a seam, which was nice, considering our O-line was massively out-matched. Hard to really know what we have at that position after just one game.

Pretty harsh considering they were facing a National Championship caliber defense with a 6'5" and 240 lbs. DE that ran a 4.4.

As far back as I could find, FWIW. I thought this was a pretty interesting stat to look at. BTW I don't mention him below, but Chanceller has been big in one way or another in almost all of our big games. He got 2 TDs against LSU. He is gonna be big this year, IMO.

year team, player rushyds/rcvyds/totalpurposeyds

2011 'Bama, Dunbar 16/45/61

2010 Clemson, Dunbar 116/62/178

2010 KState, Dunbar 270/35/305

2009 'Bama, Dunbar 5/40/57

2008 LSU, Dunbar 11/na/11 (Montgomery 33/0/33)

2008 KSU, Montgomery 62/na/62 (Mosely 56/0/69)

2007 Arkansas, Jamario 48/0/48 (Mosely 68/0/68)

2007 OU, Jamario 4/2/6

2006 Texas, Jamario 38/0/38

2005 LSU, Jamario 83/0/83 (Cobbs 21/3/36)

2005 KSU, Jamario 62/0/62 (Cobbs 34/-5/47)

2004 Texas, Cobbs -1/0/-1 (Jamario -1/0/-1)

2004 Colorado, Jamario 257/0/257

So...

Dunbar:

2008 LSU 11/0/11

2009 'Bama 5/40/57

2010 KSU 270/35/305

2010 Clemson 116/62/178

2011 'Bama 16/45/61

Jamario:

2004 Col 257/0/257 (best TRFrosh RB debut in NCAA history? gotta be top5...)

2004 Tx -1/0/-1 (STUPID 2 carries. He would have beaten Peterson on ALL accounts if not for this statistical crapper)

2005 KSU 62/0/62

2005 LSU 83/0/83

2006 Texas 38/0/38

2007 OU 4/2/6

Despite the loss people seem to be excited about our season if they take time to do research like this

Good info. Which basically confirms what I previously thought: against ELITE BCS teams, we've never been able to get a running game going (I don't really consider KSU, Clemson, or Colorado "elite", but we've clearly had more success against them).

Which we shouldn't feel bad about: most teams they play won't be able to establish any kind of consistent run game.

I think Jimmerson was on a short leash too. But, I think he was the best of the RBs. He and Byrd run with some power, but Jimmerson seems to have more of a burst. Mac was really hacked off at Brown when he fumbled the ball. I don't think he had the better game.

Our O-Line did a good job vs these guys. The ESPN announcers commented on it more than once. Our guys really made the Twin Terrors (49 & 99) a "Non-Factor" in the game.
