I personally think I'm jinxed. First year at UH as a student and they are apparently horrible. I graduate UNT and it looks like things are going up.

I will definitely take that trade though.

UH is vulnerable to the run and we better exploit that.

My wife is a TSU grad. This is embarrassing to me if we don't beat Houston. I wish we had some TSU-UNT games so that she could get excited about going to a fb game.

If we lose to Houston then she won't let me live it down.

Unless your name is Todd Dodge, UNT's plight is not your fault.

I can't speak for UH.

Don't under estimate Texas State- they have a nice option running attack w/ their QB and RB. They kept UH off balance all game.

FWIW- UH fans are in complete melt down mode.

This is not about over or understimating anybody. If we are not further along than TSUSM, it is an embarassment. That is the reality. I do not buy the "oh, well they're a good FBS start-up" BS.

I can't wait to get down to Houston.

I really don't give a crap about Houston and TX St. There are too many things that can go wrong between now and the time we play Houston. We need to focus on the next game.....and remember that Houston was probably not taking TX. St. all that seriously.,

Nothing a strong backhand can't fix.

:growl: Not funny,

Of course, it's not. She's probably a sweet lady. I hope for Grant that we win, but I also wish that we played TxSt so that there's no playing the game of if we lose to Houston than by default we lose to Texas State.

I'm happy for Texas State. I was hoping they'd be a conference mate of ours in the Sun Belt, and now I hope we're looking to schedule them in future years.

As a UNT fan some of my best memories are the times we beat former SWC schools. Take *that* for not inviting us to the party, ya bums!

Grant would probably confess that he married up. I think she likely helps keep him in line.

I honestly don't think Fran is that great of a coach, and I am happy that he did not come here. If you look at his "success," a lot of it has to do with a little guy buy the name of LaDanian Tomlinson. Gary Patterson was able to capitalize on that success and really take TCU to another level. Other than that, Fran hasn't really done anything that special.

14-4-2 at Southwestern in 2 seasons

53-6 in 5 seasons at Pittsburg State

6-5 then 7-4 at SWT his first go around

33-36 at UNM, but he took them from terrible to 9-4 in his last season there and UNM has been as a terrible program forever

25-10 in 3 years at TCU including 10-1 his final season there

7-5 then 10-3 at Alabama that was coming off a 3-8 season the year before and was on major probation

so yea he has done nothing special and it was all because of LT :whistling1:

You missed aTm. He was very Meh while with the Aggies.

He also holds a losing record in playoffs/bowl games.

I think calling his career nothing special is pretty close to accurate. :whistling1:

And this forum has one member with 2 alter, strike that, identical egos who spends far too much time in his mother's basement spewing verbal vomit onto a computer keyboard about a school he shouldn't care about.

Right, Checkfacts-Todge-GLTG?

Did aTm years go away?

he was 32-28 in 5 seasons there

that VS 56-85 in 12 seasons in the same conference for someone else

I guess doing something special depends on what your view of special is

and just because he did not win huge at TAMU that does not negate that he did win big at multiple other programs throughout his career.....and he guided a team in their first D1-A game to a win over a team that was 12-1 last year in front of the second largest home crowd ever for that team

Granted, but Coach Fran recruited Ladanian Tomlinson out of Waco University HS and that has always been his strength IMO. His weakness has been "the grass is greener" syndrome and leaving programs too soon by choice or not by choice. I don't think he will stay in San Marcos once he gets his coaching credentials updated which he is doing now nor do I think La Tech's Coach Dykes will be in Ruston in all of our's first year in CUSA. If Texas Tech is looking after this season common sense says they will first look at Dykes.

Many of us figured that UNT would have a new recruiting competitor when Coach Fran took the TSU-SM job. Our main advantage over the Bobcats is that CUSA is still a step ahead of the SBC in the all important perception department while the SBC has yet to have any team ranked inside the Top 25 in its entire history--that my friends is pretty strong recruiting fodder when comparing the 2 leagues to future recruits.

CUSA offers UNT regional rivalries and Apogee Stadium with its location in a most impressive olympic type village will always be a positive as well. Even a Pedestrian Bridge over the interstate will be such a positive for the entire school and campus. Talk about your basic glue'ing of one side of our campus to another side of the campus and for our fans it will all but be a true godsend when finished. (And FWIW....I don't think its going to looks so bad, either).

Like many of you I have been looking over my shoulders, too, to see how the Bobcat recruiting has been going and they have quite a wagon load of 3 star recruits--more than UNT last count. Those Rivals stars can be deceiving in the recruiting wars but most of us would still rather have as many of those 3 and 4 stars than the 1 or 2 star projects.

Jury is still out since its still so early, but I think Coach McCarney and staff probably do a good job of evaluating talent that will fit into our system and after last season most of us would agree that Coach Mac and his staff can coach. At Iowa State he was used to a similar situation as ours not getting all the Rivals 3, 4 or 5 star recruits but being able to develop what he did have. Getting prospects with speed and quickness will be a priority for North Texas because I feel our coaches can add all the other necessary ingrediants.

GMG!
