Yeah, as much as I love Josh White he was never gonna get his jersey hung. HOF'er definitely though. He might not get in for many years after this depending on if he ticked off the committee enough, but he will eventually.

Kenny Lyons and maybe Chris Davis should have their jerseys retired though (perhaps someone else from yesteryear too - someone help me out).

As long as Tony Mitchell in on our basketball team I don't care what former players say.

Couldn't disagree more. When you suit up for a school you should have enough pride in YOURSELF to not disrespect the colors you went to war for.

I really think the same goes for the average student. What message are you sending to people....I want you to take my degree seriously, but I don't take the university that's behind it seriously?

And as for Tony Mitchell playing here...Josh, Do-Mo, George O and TT literally laid the bridge between the crap ass Trilli years and a time when a kid like T-Mitch would even consider us. Josh should honor that accomplishment, be proud of what he made possible. Instead he's basically telling guys like T-Mitch "don't worry about having love for that school that's giving you an education, you're just a mercenary anyway."

Throw in a GTFO 4 weeks before classes start, and that seems to be both the team staff and gmg forum perspective

Drama Queen.

Like a lot of the other posters here maybe? Look, it sucks that Josh put that on his twitter. I know it disappointed me greatly, because I was one of his biggest fans around these parts. Especially after some folks sorta jumped off his bandwagon during his injury filled sophomore season. He did however honor his promise to UNT after LSU offered him a scholarship before he actually signed here. He also led the team in scoring the night we blew LSU out by 20.

Unfortunately many people come in to college with child hood favorites they can't let go. It sucks even worse when it's one of the better players in your school's history. It doesn't mean he we wipe out all of his accomplishments with a big sharpie through them..

Josh was one of the hardest working unselfish players to ever play for NT. That is what your judgment of his merit should be based on, not some random tweet.

I certainly don't understand why a grad and an athlete of NT would chose to root for another team over the school he attended and played for; but that is his choice.

As far as HOF, Josh was a good player but not that level in my opinion.

I mean, no offense since you've seen a ton of NT basketball. But if he's not in our HOF then we haven't had a HOF'er since Chris Davis and we have at most about 8-10 basketball players in it. Josh is among the all-time school leaders in numerous categories.

This whole thread makes me sad. He worked his ass of while he was here and represented the university well. Like others have said, I also wish he had become a diehard to the core MeanGreen fan, but that's not in the contract and in no way diminishes my memories of his time here. Its not like the kid is going out of his way to disparage North Texas, we don't need to be going out of our way to disparage him.

No matter what you grew up with....when you go to a certain school and go to war for that school I would think by default that should be your heart, soul and everything. He can still like LSU but to do what he did on Twitter was not cool at all especially they're playing his school. LSU is not his school...UNT is.

This is right and the rest of you are wrong.

B.S. I am not disparaging Josh or his accomplishments here, but he just cut the cord as far as I am concerned. You are wrong.

"LSU journey start tomoro !! #nationalchamps!!! #tigernation!!!"

How loyal of him. It's unfortunate that he didn't learn to spell when he was here.

That's just sad. We gave him a platform to continue his love of playing basketball and a fine education and he is loyal to a school that wanted nothing to do with him. I've lost some respect for him.

Yep, sad. And a big problem for our athletic programs.

I wonder if he is a big Kentucky basketball fan.

Josh could and probably will be in the NT HOF. I think they will pick someone from that group of players who had a lot of success and wins. I think he had a very good not great career and that may be enough. He does rank high in a lot of statistical categories partially due to playing in a lot more games than the historical norm. 10 to 15 games more than most NT statistical leaders which mounts up and is a big advantage in career totals.

To me, a HOF needs to be clearly above the norm and the fact he was never a first team all conference player and never lived up to his first year are negatives. However, I would not be surprised or have any problem with Josh getting that honor. There are a lot of far less qualified members in the NT HOF.

If we signed more kids from Denton, instead of Louisiana, we wouldn't have this problem! After all this is the university of N. Texas.

Seriously, a little disappointing but not a big deal. Kid was rooting for LSU in their quest for a national championship instead of rooting against UNT. I'm sure he would have been thrilled for UNT if we would have won (with tweets about his old school) but disappointed if LSU would have lost; eliminating a shot at a BCS game.

We have about 200,000 alums in DFW and probably 1,000,000 who attended UNT but adopted other schools. We have thousands who have relocated from all over the country to find work here. Despite all the benefits this region has afforded them, they still root for their home team. (Redskins, Giants, Phily etc).

As someone pointed out, I've seen Josh escorting recruits to UNT football games in his efforts to help sell this program. I'm also convinced that while in Louisiana, Josh will steer kids this way that he may work with. Josh is still a young guy saying politically incorrect things in the social media. Marcus Twice (#8) seems to promote UNT at every opportunity but he has been critical of UNT's resources (coming from OU) on twitter in the past. Hell, I'm still stinging from the Karen Aston's of the world, and other past coaches, who used North Texas as a stepping stone. This was the ultimate slap in the face.

Generally speaking, I understand bringing in talent like Josh to Denton but I don't understand walk on guys from Iowa, and other places, who will not stick around DFW when their playing days are over. When in doubt, continue to build the program with locals (when ability is about equal). Josh may be good friends with Trey Norris (We don't know the full story behind a 1 sentence tweet)

This is disappointing but nothing more. I could care less. It isn't like this hurts us at all. I don't think anyone of worth is sitting there thinking "If Josh doesn't root for UNT after going there they must suck and I'm not going there now". Get real people, it's a slap in the face from an ex girlfriend and nothing more.

No, it's a former athlete who accepted a scholarship to attend UNT. Alumni from UNT helped provide that scholarship. And now, the former athlete turns around and roots for a school he has no affiliation with while that school is playing his Alma Mater, a place that gave him the tools to succeed in life, and whose alumni provided him the access to those tools at no charge.

LSU playing anyone else? Fine, d-bag it up as much as you want. LSU playing the place where you received a free education and you root for LSU? Pretty F'n sorry.

This is just a symptom of the apathy that has made UNT the red headed step child of metroplex college sports. This kinda crap needs to stop. Josh needs to understand publicly rooting against his alma mater is not acceptable.

Josh is still young. Hopefully he realizes this was a bad mistake on his part.
