“I sat in during one of their practices and went to a couple of their games,” Wesley said. “There’s a lot of high major talent on that team. They are going to shock a lot of people. That will continue the next few years.”

Also, turned down Mum-Ra at SMU.

Thats good enough for me.

Says he likes the way the players respect the coach (benford)

" Every player has to stop his office daily & talk to coach. He spends a lot of time with them and respects his players. He is the Style of coach I want to learn from"

Talks about trying to follow in the footsteps of Tony Mitchell

Reading up on the Harkless/Hicks situation at St. John's last year... It is not unprecedented for a player to get cleared to play even if a school hires someone associated with the player's AAU program as a Not-Coach.

http://thehoopdoctor...eared-for-2011/

Despite how the rule is written, as long as the potential IAWP didn't "coach" them, then everything is hunky dory. Possibly for teams outside the Big East, too.

So, hooray! As long as someone not-coaching at North Texas also was a recruit's not-coach at the high school or AAU level, we should be fine. Early signing is 2 days away, and we have one less potential time bomb to fret over.

Any update yet on Wesley's status/why he missed that game?

I read yesterday on the star telegram website that he did play and scored 17 or 18 points. Can't remember exactly. However, for some reason the link on the star telegram doesn't work.

ARLINGTON -- Arlington Seguin starts four juniors and one senior.

The Cougars' experience helped them start on the season on the right foot with an 85-52 win over Arlington at Arlington High School on Tuesday night.

Junior guard Cris Boleware led the effort with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

The front line of 6-foot-4 Brandon Parrish, 6-7 Greg Wesley and 6-9 Kelvin Downs also was impressive in the runaway victory over the Colts, who were a playoff team in 5A last year.

Seguin took control three minutes into the game with Wesley igniting a run along with Erik Wright, who came off the bench.

Seguin ran out to a 24-16 lead after the first quarter, effectively employing its fast-break style.

Wesley finished with 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting. He was also 6 of 12 from the free-throw line and added eight rebounds. Parrish added 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting.

Seguin, which went two rounds deep into the Class 4A playoffs last season, put the game away by halftime with its pressure defense and scoring in transition.

Arlington's top scorer was Tim Ochola with nine points after entering the game in the second half.

Sorry for being a buzzkill, but that article is from 2011. Kelvin Downs was a senior last year and is now at Arky State.

SGP hits a 3 at the buzzer to win 55-52. Wesley ended up with 8 points (1 mid range jumper and 3 put backs) I was overall dissapointed with his effort last night on the defensive end; considering that their 6-7 transfer center from Plano West (and ULL commit) is not eligible yet. (on the bench but not in uniform) 6-5 TCU commit Brandon Parrish was their entire offense. Wesley is a very athletic complimentary player. He's excellent around and above the rim but does not have the overall offensive game to be a factor.

Both teams, by the way, are ranked too high in my opinion. Sequin plays a very good West Mesquite team Saturday night in the 4th annual Thanksgiving Hoopfest in Duncanville. 7:00 pm tipoff for anyone interested.

Wesley had 17 last night against a much shorter West Mesqute squad. Sequin played much better than their loss earlier in the week to SGP
