OK, we have a new weekly pickem game that we will be kicking off this season and we encourage you to participate. We will have all non conference and conference Sun Belt games listed on a week by week basis. This is the first time we have done this, so we will be working out the kinks and if it works out well we will expand upon it to include other sports and perhaps C-USA and other professional teams. Here are the basic rules and requirements to play and we will be awarding prizes for our top 3 competitors:

1). You must be a registered member of GoMeanGreen.com in good standing AND you have posted on this board at least 15 times (topic posts or responses) by the end of the 2012 Sun Belt conference schedule. This keeps the professional guys from coming on to the board just for the contest and helps us to reward our members who contribute to the site. We have a lot of lurkers on here so, if you have been waiting for the moment to jump onboard this may well be the time. If you are a fan of another Sun Belt school feel free to register and make some posts or responses on the board before the 2012 Sun Belt Football Season Ends - should not be difficult to do.

2). The deadline for making your selections is the time that the first game that week starts. We will try to notify and remind everyone about when the deadline is but if you don't get it in you can't make a pick! I suggest going ahead and making your picks for the season now and making adjustments as the games transpire. We only have the first three weeks loaded but will be adding the other weeks and will let you know when we do so you can update your picks accordingly.

3). The games will be selected as "Win Only" we will not be using point spreads. This will keep it simple and easy. As time progresses and the software is updated we will look at making the format more complex.

4). In the case of ties we will determine a tie breaker that will likely involve another conference game or perhaps a bowl.

5). We reserve the right to make changes to the game itself, the rules and will remove players who we find detrimental to the process. All decisions made will be final - there will be no appeals process.

6). More information regarding prizes etc will be shared at a later time. If we get a good turnout and keep our donations up we would like to have some nice prizes to share. If you are looking for advertising here on the site and would like to donate an item or items to use as prizes please send me a PM or respond to this thread. So officially no prizes yet announced but based on participation and interest we may be adding some to sweeten the pot!

7). GMG reserves the right to pull the plug on this game at any time if things go haywire. So keep in mind this is our first run, we will likely make some mistakes and appreciate your help as we work through the kinks!

8). If things start out rough in your picks don't get too down -- it's a long season and there is plenty of time to make up ground. We all know there are games in the Sun Belt conference that could go either way every single year so it could very well go down to the wire. We may decide to do the bowl games and possibly C-USA but since it is fairly labor intensive it will depend on interest and time.

Including Point Spreads makes picks way more difficult and interesting. I've hosted Pick-Em contests in the NFL before and it really makes you think about your picks.

I agree although I think when you get into the Sun Belt conference schedule you could throw the point spreads out in many many games. We will look at adding the point spread feature at a later time.

We're up to over 50 participants and hopefully more before the first Sun Belt game on Thursday night!!! I am noticing a lot of our posters on the board have yet to jump in -- please get your first week picks in now before it is too late!!

OK tomorrow the first Sun Belt game starts at 6:30 PM Central Time today (Thursday first Sun Belt Game is McNeese at MUTS 6:30 PM Central Time)....Get all of your week one picks in there now so you will be in the contest. It's easy - just pick the winners of each game and DON'T FORGET TO SUBMIT YOUR PICKS prior to gametime!! There is a SUBMIT PICKS button at the bottom that you are needing to press to enter all of your picks in. You can change your mind right up nutil gametime after that your out of that particular game and cannot receive any points for that game. This will be a lot of fun for us as the season progresses!
