Dunbar needs to have a great camp

"As much as we want to believe that there is a battle for this third running back job, it sounds like Lance Dunbar or Ed Wesley is going to have to have the camp of their young careers to take the job away from Phillip Tanner. The front office loves the way that Tanner goes about his job and what he brings to the roster on a daily basis. In their eyes, he is a complete back. The things I really respect about Tanner's game is his ability to pass protect. We all know that he can run the football and he catches the ball well but the mark of a third down back is his ability to do the dirty work. As important as Scandrick is to playing nickel corner, your third down back needs to be that same type of player that is a difference maker and Phillip Tanner has that type of ability to be a difference maker. You nailed it on the blocking. I'd put Dunbar up against Tanner on running and receiving and feel good about the outcome but can he block as well? I doubt it. Let's just hope that he's almost as effective.

Reports say that Felix Jones failed his conditioning test and will not be practicing with the rest of the team until he can pass it.

Not saying he will make the team for sure, but that has to be a sign to worry for the Cowboys when your #1 running back can't pass a conditioning test. This means that Lance will probably see a few extra reps and may have a better shot.

Demarco Murray is #1 now... Felix is #2... Could help Dunbar make the team or at least be on proctice squad in case F elix is not "glued together" that well. ..Interesting bit is Ced Benson from Texas is out there on no team.

Dunbar needs reps, so he can shop himself to another team, if he does not make the Dallas squad.

Agreed. It would be very surprising if he wasn't picked up by another team if he was cut loose by Dallas.

friend Jasmine was just called by ESPN Hawaii for an update on the Cowboys....we were at the pool when she took the on the air call.....when she got around to the Running Back scenario I couldn't hold back and blasted a "LAAAANNNCEEE DUNBAAAARRRR!" in the background. She looked like she was going to punch me through my forehead. Still couldn't resist.
