I know this is something TCU, and others have done in the past – recruit QB’s and move them to other positions. Just wondering what the overall feeling of this approach is around the Mean Green nation?

It can certainly work. Usually, in HS, the best athlete you have is the QB so he can touch the ball on every down.

Jeremy Phillips is working out for us at LB.

Just in the last 5-6 years some names that come to mind: Darius Carey, Riley Dodge (Fr & Soph year), James Hamilton, Willie Taylor, DeWaylon Cook, Jeremy Phillips, Mike Stokojovic, Cooper Jones, and I am sure there are others. Mac and his staff have targeted several ATH type of QB's during their tenure here in recruiting (Torrance Carr of Richardson at Oklahoma State now, a few of the Louisiana kids, etc) and I would imagine this is a trend that would continue.

Would have loved to see Riley at free safety. His game smarts and athleticism would have served him well there.

One collision with a TE blocking downfield, and Riley may have spontaneously combusted. He was best, and probably safest, at QB... oddly enough.
