John Curtis Christian might have the best secondary in the nation when it comes to overall depth in the defensive backfield. The Patriots have almost 30 legitimate college football prospects on the roster in grades 9-through-12, and the River Ridge, Louisiana program is especially blessed in both the offensive and defensive backfields.

Mattrell McGraw is a '14 DB who had a nice showing last year on the field, and he's taking the show to the road right now.

"It started at the Louisiana Tech camp in New Orleans on Saturday," said McGraw. "I went with ('13 LB and teammate) Eric Thomas. The coaches were impressed and invited me to their camp on July 22nd. They like my size, technique and how the receivers didn't have much of a chance against me at the camp.

"Coach (Tommy) Spangler kept asking the school where I'm from because he was impressed with my technique. I told him, 'Curtis,' and he said, 'Yeah, that's why you're so good.'"

North Texas is the next stop for McGraw after Ole Miss (where McGraw is visiting this week).

"That's in two days," he said of the road trip to Denton, Texas, that he'll take with '13 teammates Fred Beauford (LB) and Brandon Porter.

Sunday's camp at the University of North Texas was just the second stop in a big circuit for 2014 cornerback Mattrell McGraw, who had made the 9-hour trek from River Ridge, Louisiana to Denton, Texas with a handful of teammates from 2A state champion John Curtis. McGraw talks with FSNext inside, breaking down the upcoming schedule- and hinting who might be slapping down that first offer.
