North Texas is … Kanye’s ‘New Day’

In 2011, North Texas won more than three games for the first time since 2004. The Mean Green even defeated a BCS conference foe; granted, that foe was one-win Indiana. But there was progress within the program nonetheless. It was all done in the first year for coach Dan McCarney, who also has excitement from the second year of a brand-new, on-campus stadium and a move to Conference USA for 2013.

On the field, QB Derek Thompson is developing but North Texas’ running game and defensive secondary leave much to be desired. But the change is in the air. You could even say that it’s a “New Day” in Denton, TX, like the song from Kanye West featuring Jay-Z on the changing of ways for their children.
