No doubt SMU needs UNT more than UNT needs SMU. Even if SMU is able to maintain a series with TCU, Baylor and UNT, and that's a big if, SMU can only expect to play two home games against regional opponents. Do the math TCU, Baylor, UNT, Houston are SMU only regional opponents, half these games will be played at home and the other half away every year. Ford Stadium is going to very empty in 2013..

Now the SMU has join the BE, it will not be able to offer Baylor or TCU as favorable revenue terms as playing C-USA team. Don't be surprise if Baylor and TCU seek to replace SMU with UNT, La Tech or UTSA on their schedule. Also, once TCU leaves joins the Big 12, it will have plenty of regional games in the conference. TCU will probably use their OOC game to better advantage.

I do believe that developing a rivalry with SMU is to UNT's advantage, just because it will raise local media attention. It will give UNT fans another game they can easily attend.

if SMU needs unT so bad.....how come after "being scared to play unT all these years" SMU is the one moving to the conference that no one thought they would get ask to join and the conference that everyone on this forum would have loved to have been ask to join?

and what is a "favorable revenue term" and how does SMU being in a different conference make any difference to the "favorable revenue term" of TCU or Baylor

and how does SMU only suddenly have TCU, Baylor, unT, and Houston as the only regional opponent when Texas Tech, Rice, UT, TAMU, UTSA, TxState, and UTEP all still exist along with Tulsa, LaTech, Tulane, ULM, Louisiana and a multitude of other teams that are close

do you just make this stuff up as you go along and the best part is how UH is apparently going to have no issues with going to the big East and they are going to make no difference for any other teams "favorable revenue terms" (what ever that crap is) and it is only SMU that is going to have an issue.....I guess UH needs to be calling Rice right now and begging them not to cut UH off from the "favorable revenue terms" and letting them know they still need them right?.....or is unfavorable revenue terms only an SMU issue? (well since they are BS they are a nothing but I would love to hear the answer)

SMU will rue the day they feel the wrath of the unfavorable revenue term!!!!....or is it the Baylors and TCUs that feel the wrath of the unfavorable revenue term of SMU?

I think it's funny how you believe that UNT would have "loved to been asked to join" the Big East. There's no doubt that prior to all the realignment, that we would have wished for an invite, but in hindsight, I am very glad we weren't. That conference is potentially 1 move away from not existing. Simply put, the Big East is the WAC of the BCS.
