You know what would have been better? If this parent would have simply shared this proud moment with her family and not used the opportunity to sensationalize (nicest word I could use) her son. Now the lesson is you do good things to get attention.

Man, I'm getting cynical in my old age.

I can neither confirm nor deny this and I am sure it would be very hard to confirm from anyone part of Westboro but...

I heard that the "church" is not so interested in the issue as they are in the publicity and potential law suits. Westboro is only looking for a violation of their civil rights so they can sue.

Remember, only governments can violate a person’s or group’s civil rights. Companies and individuals have no legal bounds to watch out for another’s civil rights. That is not to say that companies and individuals can’t violate other laws pertaining to the treatment of others.
