So I was in the Football recruiting forum and noticed that four players are transferring from OU, supposedly, for failing drug tests.

I don't really have a problem with us recruiting players who are transfering, or being kicked out, from other programs for negative reasons. I say as long as there not getting in trouble with us then its all good. But its definitley a gamble. Anyways, my question is this:

Is a program looked down upon for taking in all the knuckle heads that nobody else wants?

I only experienced two years of Darrell Dickey but didnt he have a couple of Hard Knocks on his team? Isnt that why Dodge had to kick some guys off the team when he first came in?

Anyways... I was just wondering what you guys thought about that....

Happy Tuesday Everybody!

The biggest news Todd Dodge ever produced was when he drug tested the whole team when he got here and over 50 I believed failed.

It was all over ESPN and it did nothing to help the program.

That story sure was a black eye.... however, I think the biggest story with Dodge was the father-son combo.

The "funny" part of this was that Dodge conducted the drug tests to get the bad Dickey people off HIS team...and wound up busting a ot of the kids that he recruited. Just another example of fail.

Mac won't take players that are kicked off of other teams.....

as far as players who are in specific situations of course he would.

Cam Feldt couldn't pierce the two deep at Ark.

Darius Terrell was wanting to play WR and didn't have the size for the TE that UT wanted him to be

Marcus Trice was perceived by some at OU to be a whistle blower on Mandatory "Non-Mandatory Practices" at OU. If this even were true it is a far cry from failing a drug test or having discipline issues.

Do you think programs are looked down upon for taking players with behavior problems? Which programs are notorious for doing that? I always thought Oklahoma State had trouble-makers...

I think it depends. If a program takes in a "trouble maker" and allows him to continue with his antics while looking the other way, then I would think they would be looked down upon. If the player cleans up his act, or if the team lays down the law, then I think everything is forgiven. Sometimes we all forget that alot of these are 18, 19 or 20 year olds that are away from home for the first time. Raise your hand if you didn't do anything stupid or have a little fun once you left home.

50 players didn't fail a drug test.

Coaches know who their suspect players are. When the NCAA random test pulled UNT's suspect group, Dodge tested everyone.

Sometimes its better to show the entire "universe" than rely on a statistical sample.
