6'5" power forward?

Charles Barley is 6-3 3/4. He did pretty good in college and in the league.

I worked with Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley was a friend of mine. This kid is no Charles Barkley!!

But seriously, if his game translates into a 2 guard or a small forward, great. If he grows another 3 or 4 inches, great. But a 6'5" (and that is how he is listed, which means he is probably 6'3" maybe) power forward??

There was one, mark it down, one Charles Barkley.

HOOPNIKS

Soma Edo, 6′-6″, PF, 2013, Dallas Mustangs/Richardson Berkner (TX): When it comes to a combination of strength and athleticism, Edo has to be near the top of the class. He’s a ferocious rebounder that collects caroms like they are going out of style. Edo has an instinct for blocking shots, and showed some limited post moves with his back to the basket. Edo is terrific physically, though time must be given to perfect his hoop skills.

Watching this guy for the 1st time. He can literally jump out of the gym. Literally

Getting by on pure athleticism right now. If he can develop a all around game, could be something special

Actually, I think his game has improved immensely since his freshman year. An impact guy down low (at 6-6) that can dominate much taller bigs; with his athleticism. Reminds me of Quincy Acy of Mesquite Horn/Baylor. Explosive leaper that you have to have on the court. Relentless on the offensive and defensive boards. Great shot blocker! Grabs all lob passes anywhere near the goal for monster dunks. Very broad shoulders on a man's body. Old school game.

Kinda looks old school too!

I didn't get to see much of his low post game. Bluechips had a very physical / dirty player down low. Not sure the name , but he was throwing bows left & right. Went after Edo's back intentionally a few times. Edo appeared to already have a back injury prior to the game. Game was very chippy 1st half, glad it didn't get out of hand.

Mustangs had a very big guy whom i hadn't seen yet. About 6'5 probably a solid 285 pds. Has to play football. Any idea who it was ?

Mustangs advance, get revenge

The Dallas Mustangs-Booker defeated the Texas Tigers Elite, 79-69, to advance to the quarterfinals. The Mustangs' first-round game, however, may have been more memorable.

The Mustangs defeated Islanders Basketball Foundation, 69-44, in their first bracket-play game and erased the frustration of GASO play two years ago. IBF beat the Mustangs twice during the summer of 2010 in separate NCAA Division championship games.

The Mustangs advanced to the quarterfinals late Sunday by holding off a scrappy Tigers team. The Mustangs led the Tigers by 12 at the half and cruised in the second half. Soma Edo scored a game-high 20 points, while Jeffrey Carroll and Leyton Hammonds each had 15 for the Mustangs.

I really, really want this dude...he may lack refined skills for a wing, but his athleticism and work-rate are worth the offer...you can coach up a jumper. Strikes me as a combo of Roger Franklin and Denver's Chris Udofia.

Oh well, seems like Edo has blown up even more after last weekend's GASO in Carrollton:

SUPERMAN

Soma Edo of the Dallas Mustangs-Booker (Richardson Berkner) is the most electrifying player in the state no matter the class, and during the GASO Memorial Tip Off, Edo showed why. His quick instincts made him a tough match up once the ball was in the air. Edo was flying over defenders and even showed a bit of a mid-range game. He did however, step out beyond the three point line and drained the occasional three-pointer. Though he hit the open three, he was most effective around the basket. On the defensive end of the ball, Edo is a threat to block every shot that an opponent puts up, and his rebounding skills were tremendous.

PF Soma Edo, 6-foot-5 Richardson (Texas) Berkner 2013: Edo is far from the most skilled player at the Adidas Invitational. He doesn't have a true position as an undersized power player, and he isn't someone that the big schools are necessarily tracking at this point. But he is far and away the premier athlete playing in Indianapolis. The forward routinely made plays above the rim on Saturday, including an alley-oop finish that he caught and slammed home just a few inches from the top of the backboard. Edo brought the crowd, and even some typically reserved college coaches, to their feet in warmups as he threw down consecutive between-the-legs dunks; and then proceeded to produce a double-double on the court in a Dallas Mustangs' overtime loss to Dream Vision in the quarterfinals.
