So if its 14 teams how will the conference games work?

Let's say its two 7 team divions

CUSA-West

UTEP

UTSA

UNT

Rice

Tulsa

LA Tech

Tulane

CUSA-East

Marshall

ECU

FIU

Southern Miss

UAB

Charlotte

Old Dominion

That means a team would play 6 division games (3 home, 3 away)

How will the other conference games work? 2-4 games?

No, we still play 8. Six in the west division, two in the east. We would play an East division opponent every 3 or 4 years.

And knowing our luck in 2013 we'll get the short straw of USM and East Carolina on the road!

Typically in basketball, you play 16 or 18 conference games. The larger conferences play 18.

So, we play our division twice for 12 games, plus 6 from the other division, 3-home/3-road games. Every year there is a team we don't play in the East.

I expect we'll do 19 to keep it even. 12 round robin in-division, 7 alternating home and road year to year against the other side.
