The key for us is getting a "name" opponent early in the season AND getting one late as well.

Look at the years we played Army, Navy, and Kansas State late in the year.

My hope is that the conference will give us a "name" to play at home late in the season.

What would our average attendance have been this year if Marshall or Southern Miss had come instead of WK or MTSU?

My guess is over 20,000.

I am of the same belief. I believe the avg will go over 20,000 once we are playing teams that people have heard of. Of course winning will help the most, but until then these teams everyone knows has to help. I think it also will help in the basketball arena as well.

Really a no brainer

Tech/ULM

Tulsa/Arkansas State

Rice/Troy

UTEP/WKU

Tulane/ULL

Southern Miss/Muts

Marshall/Georgia State

East Carolina/South Alabama

UTSA/???

Name recognition = more butts in seats.

You're right. I think we all agree that the name recognition definitely helps. But how much? 3k 5k? I think something in the area of 2-4k is what we should realistically expect as our increase for next year. Maybe 5k increase from this past year to our first year in CUSA.

Sorry, I see virtually no change in attendance NEXT YEAR with our farewell tour of the SBC. But I do see the change you suggest for the fall of 2013.

Maybe even less than 2-4k. I would think the news of UNT to C-USA may only help around 200 - 500 butts in seats for this upcoming season. Remeber, we'll still be in the belt next season.

However, win against the C-USA schools and it will help attendance more than winning against SBC schools.

We're still in the belt this season, so we will need to POUND TX Southern, and hopefully win all of our home games in belt competition. This might provide a little momentum to start year 1 in C-USA. If we can win in C-USA, then watch Apogee fill up every Saturday.

It comes down to winning. People in DFW don't want to be associated with a loser... even if it's their own Alma Mater (Craig Miller anyone?). And if the 2009-present Rangers, 2001-present Mavericks, & 1997-2004 Stars have shown us anything, it's that people in DFW do want to be associated with a winner.

I renewed my season tickets yesterday morning. Last night we get word about the CUSA invite...

You're all welcome. :thumbsu:

About time...what took you so long? Ha! way to go Rudy! See you at Apogee!

ABSOLUTELY! It's great that Mac is doing his part (could you imagine DD or TD doing a stadium tour or selling to anyone who will listen like Mac?), but EVERYONE IN THE ADMINISTRATION AT NORTH TEXAS NEEDS TO BE DOING THE SAME THING!.....Did I mention EVERYONE?

And as to depending on other schools to fill our stadium. In theory, I totally agree that it must be us filling the stadium. But forgodsakes what casual fan, or more accurately "uncertain fans" would want to go and see us play F-who? or WK-who?. And those schools were never going to fill up the 4K allotment that we set aside for visitors.

And losing games to the F-who's and WK-whos? of the world just make it worse.

How about the so-called fans of the Mean green doing their part as well...and the students...think they might want to actually step up and do their part? Just saying before you start naming names and making lists of who needs to support in higher numbers...just sayin...everyone is in this together. EVERYONE HAS A PART TO PLAY in helping set the Mean green up for success in CUSA. The time for excuses is OVER...the time for action is now. ACTA NON VERBA should be the new motto of Mean Green Fans everywhere...if, in fact, they are more than pseudo-fans. I am with you Silver...everyone needs to do their part. Some folks need to look in the mirror to find out just who that "everyone" is. And, to be clear here...I am talking about folks doing what they can...nothing more nothing less. It's all important and needed.
