So, they have ONE year in FBS and they feel they have the clout to decline anything? Also, how could they have more invites than NT? If it is coming out that they have been invited and will join CUSA, where is our invite and to what conference? That last tidbit is what worries me.

Barry is just speculating (not his real name guys). That is just an opinion piece based off his obsessive following of the topic.

This is really typical reaction of UNT-ers. I get it but I don't subscribe to it. It demeans us, yo.

UTSA getting the invite is just a function of the current climate, methinks. They are all potential and (relatively limited) TV market. I figure the sell is this: "They sold out the first game! Averaged 35K! All of the 7th largest city is behind them! Alamodome!"

Whereas, when trying to sell LaTech and other squads that have been bouncing around conferences, you have actual numbers and history messing up the positive vibes.

I also think that is the reason UNCC is getting so much love.

If Tech gets in I wouldn't be surprised if they go East and Tulane goes West since they like the private schools in Rice & Tulsa

I could see C-USA wanting to split up the privates a bit. But since Tulane has been in the West and LaTech will be the newcomer, you're probably right. Unless Tulane wants to move east, y'all will probably be there.

      Finishing Out the '25 Class

      1. I have us at about 80 scholarship players. This count does not include Makenzie McGill who we almost assuredly need to put on scholarship to keep, and Evan Jackson who deleted his transfer portal post and hasn’t posted anything since. Also does not include high school commit Terrence Lewis who still seems in line to sign in February. That being said, we probably could sign a few more HS guys this February. We have space and likely will have more space after spring to bring in more portal guys this summer if needed. 2. Probably will have a better idea on this after spring when we have a better idea of where we still are weaker than we want to be. We have pretty good numbers at each position. 3. There definitely will be more transfers after spring but pure speculation on who. Larry Moore appears to be passed over at tackle, and I doubt he wants to spend his last season of eligibility on the bench. Same for VJ Bronson at DT. At safety I don’t expect Isheem Young to come back but I could be wrong. He came here because of Caponi and we seem to have been recruiting that position as if he isn’t coming back. BJ Allen at safety looks like he is in danger of getting passed up by multiple guys so he could be better off looking elsewhere for more playing time. I think Zach Evans is similarly buried on the depth chart. I‘d be surprised if any of those 5 guys were still here after spring. Those are 5 spots I pretty much expect to open up just based on guys who are sort of the odd men out at their spots, but looks like they’ll be here through spring to have a chance to carve out bigger roles.

      Many people on this board, constantly talk about competing with SMU. We should also pay attention to what TCU and other programs are doing, so we have a bar to set for ourselves. Ignoring the competition, gets us where we are now.

      Should we add Texas State to the AAC?

      These conference wishlists are fun to discuss but in no world should UNT share a conference with Tarleton State and SHSU in 2025 lol I’d love being in the PAC as long as some other AAC members follow as a package. That conference wouldn’t be as friendly regionally but there would definitely be more opportunities for national recognition in the PAC especially in basketball.
