Buzz Peterson comments on Benford getting UNT job

Benford to North Texas: After four seasons at Marquette, associate head coach Tony Benford is taking the head coaching job at North Texas. Benford is a native of Hobbs, N.M., and played in college at Texas Tech.

"I am absolutely thrilled for Tony," Marquette coach Buzz Williams said. "He is more than deserving of this opportunity and is walking into an area of the country where he will be able to have immediate success."

Exactly right, it was a promotion Buzz gave to Benford to justify a bit of a raise to make him Marquette's top assistant, as well as to help put his name out there for other gigs.
