Interesting note:

Weeden-led Oklahoma State beat:

*Luck-led Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl (41-38)

*Griffin-led Baylor (59-24...OSU was up 35-0 at halftime, 56-10 in the 4th before Griffin threw a TD pass against the Poke backups)

*Tannehill-led Texas A&M (30-29)

All I need to know about Robert Griffin Brandon Weeden on draft day, if I'm an owner or GM, is that he led Baylor to a 55-28 loss to a very average Texas A&M squad. threw 3 interceptions and couldn't stop his team from blowing a 17 point lead against a very weak Iowa State team.

You are crazy if you think these two will go the way of Ryan Leaf. After looking at your list, I would take eiter Luck or Griffin over all but two or three in the top 15. These two will be highly successful, but only, like all other QB's, if they have good supporting cast.

I'm crazy then, because I only see a few glaring holes at QB - Indianapolis, Washington, Minnesota, Cleveland, Seattle, and Miami.

Seattle thinks they've got it solved with Matt Flynn. Minnesota is trying out Christian Ponder, who seems to be pretty average so far. Cleveland thought highly enough of Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace to take Brandon Weeden.

Indianapolis is a shell of itself. Washington is about the same. Who's the running threat? Who's the receiving threat? No one. No one on either team.

Neither Luck nor Griffin is good enough to make a roster full over average NFL players better. I'd say no QB in this draft is.

If I were Washington, I'd have taken the Richardson. You can trade for or buy veteran QBs to hand off the ball and throw to average receivers. They're paying first round money to have just another guy on the roster to try to hand off to the likes of Roy Helu, Jr. and throw to a gaggle of no name receivers? Wasted money...and, time.

You stated there weren't any "can't miss" QB's. I'm just stating that Luck and Griffin can be this type of QB with the right supporting cast like all other star QB's. Aikman had Smith, Irvin, Novacek and a great OL, Montana had Craig, Rice, etc..., Manning had James, Harrison, etc... We'll see how good Peyton is in Denver. I predict failure without a decent OL.

Hmm. QBing a one-loss conference title team versus a three-loss team...I see where you're going. I agree with you - Weeden is the better QB and Griffin is overhyped.

I'm still searching, though, for the game last year where Weeden led his offense to an 0-42 hole and didn't throw a TD until opponents backups were in the game. Show me that one and maybe I'll be able to see why Griffin is the better prospect.

For the record, I was just teasing you a bit. I shed no tears over your condemnation of Luck and Griffin.

I think Chris Weinke is going to have a great career, too.

Perhaps, but Montana isn't in the same class because he wasn't overhyped. He was a third round pick. I'm saying that this draft is going to be like that one.

Also, in his first Super Bowl, Montana didn't have Rice and Craig. He had...Freddie Solomon and Rick Patton. Yeah. Second, he had Craig, but not Rice; still Solomon. Montana made average talent better.

1979

1st Round QBs

#3 - Jack Thompson, Washington State, Cincinnati

#7 - Phil Simms, Morehead State - NY Giants

#23 - Steve Fuller, Clemson, Kansas City

2nd Round

No QBs

3rd Round

#82 (last pick of the 3rd Round) - Joe Montana, Notre Dame, San Francisco

Weeden is Chris Weinke version 2.0. HE'S GOING TO BE A GARBAGE QUARTERBACK ON A GARBAGE TEAM AND YOU KNOW IT. QUIT LYING TO YOURSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE.

Hutchinson and Henson are still available in the Former Baseballer/Old Football Prospect joke pool.

I still think Chuch and Henson are going to be great. They've got the look.

Drafting any Big 12 QB ever equals long-term failure and lolz. It's a simple concept. So far, we have 1.5 seasons of VY, a good season from Freeman and I guess GMG folk hero Seneca Wallace. That's it. Look it up. It's in the thing.

If I've missed someone, let me know, because it is weird to me the conference has done nothing at that position in the NFL.

You are correct, and I plus thee 1 for it.

Also, note that the Redskins hedged their bet by taking a guy who ran a pro-style offense in college in the 4th round.

so who will be better the 1st QB Washington drafted or the second QB they drafted a few rounds later, my bet will be the 2nd QB

Washington Redskins, 1994

1st Round Pick - Heath Shuler, QB, Tennessee

7th Round Pick - Gus Frerotte, QB, Tulsa

Shuler: 4 years: 29 games, 22 started

Frerotte: 15 years: 147 games, 97 started, and Pro Bowl in 1996...while #1 pick Shuler backed him up.

Washington, perhaps, remembers their experience in drafting overhyped QBs and remember that it's good to have a viable back-up plan...like a guy who knows how to play QB.

I think RG3 is a stud and will be a really good QB in the NFL. If/when that happens that trade will be so worth it even tho they gave up a lot in the deal. The QB is the most important position in football and if you have good QB you'll generally always be in the mix for publicity, playoffs, championship runs etc. It just makes your team's abilities and drafting that much easier with a good to really good QB and I think RG3 is that guy.
