I have a few friends living up in Norcal and the whole upper part of the state is struggling mightily with money especially the public schools. My friend told me that schools are rejecting a lot of applications because there isn't enough money even if they raise tuition costs. I don't know the detailed finances but at some point Cal will be able to get the money raised because they have a lot of rich alums so I don't foresee this being a problem in a few years.

That football still exists at any public California school is nothing short of budgetary wizardry, smoke and mirrors. The state is broke. The UC an Cal State systems have been getting systematically starved out for over twenty years.

Not with that PAC12 TV contract they signed last year. All those athletic departments are gonna be raking in the dough.

UCLA and Cal will be fine.
