Larry Brown to SMU?

i don't understand why SMU is considering hiring Larry Brown. he has been out of college coaching for a number of years,is long in the tooth, and has no local ties. it looks to me that for SMU to be successful [or us for that matter] they must be able to tap into the DISD.this coach in waiting sounds like a joke. opinions?

The coach in waiting used to be our coach in the early to mid 90's. He wasn't a bad coach. I bet if SMU knew that he is an North Texas Comminity College retread he wouldn't be the HCIW.

Larry Brown has been a winner for the most part for a very long time. If you're a HS head coach and you have talented player it's all about sourcing your player to a winner. If your a good HS coach and become friends with Larry Brown there is no telling who coach Brown knows in college or the pros. Jobs are hard to come by in a lot of situations and in most cases it comes down to who you know. I'd bet Larry Brown's Rolodex has no shortage of contacts in it.
