CUSA/MWC Merger Unlikely

Have you been to both? If so, you have a better basis than I.

I've only been to Lafayette, and the food/people are absolutely amazing. I would not mind sharing conferences with them for the sake of LaLa road trips. It's crazy awesome.

I've never been to LaTech, but I've heard their facilities are atrocious. I vaguely remember some football success 15 - 20 years ago (WAC title?), and they have Terry Bradshaw to hang their hat on, but what else? I don't see or hear of any commitment from their AD, so maybe that's why none of their conference brethren seem to give them a voice/vote in discussions?

I've been a little out of the loop lately on LaTech, though; if we have any Bulldog lurkers: not trying to flame you! Feel free to update me and make yourselves feel better.

Yeah......a little out of the loop. Tech won it's second WAC title 4 months ago.........played TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl, $20,000,000 fund raiser with stadium upgrade passed, and some good, friendly people to tailgate with. Maybe not ULL tailgating......you've got to give it to those crazy cajuns, they do know how to party. NT folks will come to like La Tech if/when they share a conference with them. If not, I can see where some fans could be a little testy when it comes to Tech fans.

Doesn't make me feel better........just trying to inform. :)

FWIW, when I think of Louisiana Tech, two things come to mind.

One: The LT sweet 16 basketball team they had with Carl Malone.

Two: The lady Techsters womans basketball program.

The year they had Carl Malone, plus a deep run in the NCAA tournament, put Louisiana Tech on the map for me growing up. It just goes to show how advancing deep in the NCAA tournament creates exposure for a university. Because of those past successes, when I look at all the non-BCS Louisiana Universities, I tend to view LT as a cut above (in my mind, but maybe not the general public).

While I am not a huge basketball fan, I realize just how important a person like Tony Mitchell could be to our university. He could potentially bring us the same exposure that Carl Malone brought Tech.
