I would like the new coach to add at least one area high school and/or Houston area coach to the staff. Legendary NT coach Bill Blakely realized this with the creation of a position for then Dallas South Oak Cliff coach Jimmy Gales. Coach Gales was very instrumental in bringing Charles McMillan, Waymon Lister, Kevie Gulley, Ronnie Morgan, Norvel Miles & Deon Hunter to campus. (Some as HC) Hall of Fame C/F Ken Williams joined the fold a year earlier.

Arguably, the best recruiters in the state of Texas for high school talent to their respective school, has to be Royce Johnson of Dallas Kimball and Greg Wise of Houston Yates. When a kid tells Snoop (Royce) "but coach I live in the Cedar Hill district" Royce will probably tell the kid no problem and pick them up and take them home. (Any truth to this Mr. Odufawa?) Year after year when opposing teams have to rebuild, Kimball & Yates reload with an influx of talent that would make a mid-high major D1 college proud.

Another possibility are area AAU coaches, headlined by Jazzy Hartwell (Urban DFW Elite), Ervin Davis (Dallas Showtyme), Tony Johnson (Dallas Mustangs)

Anyway, just an early thought on possible assistant coach candidates from the high school ranks.
